On my travels through the Karoo, an area of rugged beauty in southern Africa. I came across the Barrydale hand weavers, a skills and job creation project which train local people in the art of handweaving on looms and produce beautiful handwoven rugs, carpets, tableware, fabrics and even clothing. They encourage their weavers to come up with their own designs and because everything is handmade, each item has its own unique signature. This large woven piece measures 140 cm x 200 cm. Perfect as a table cloth but would make a beautiful throw .Handwoven using 100% pure cotton. The fabric has a slub yarn woven in to give a more textured feel.
