Screen printed heavy cotton textile called Toccata designed by Robert Tierney; Manufacturer by David Whitehead circa 1959. Printed Cotton made in England.
This mid century textile is in great condition and has never been used . There are 2 small marks on the textile , which seem to be screen print marks as they are on the front printed side of the fabric and do not show on the back ( please see picture) They are hard to see, I missed them myself when I first listed this textile.
The pattern uses geometric shapes and bright colours that have been designed to create a painted effect. Textiles designed by artists were popular with British consumers during the 1960s.
This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of british textile history. This stretched on a wooden frame will make a stunning large art work.
