This is a wonderful and quirky bit of History as well as being an incredibly decorative wall hanging. An original 1950s whole route master bus Destination blind . Professionally framed in a simple black box frame with glass glazing ready to hang- it is huge and will make a fabulous interior statement. Not sure if this west London route even exists anymore. Destination blinds were used on trams, buses and trolleybuses to indicate the route and destination. From the 1950s, all the destination blinds were manufactured at Aldenham Overhaul Works in Hertfordshire. Silk-screen printed paper was glued onto long rolls of muslin cotton. The blinds were made in one long roll and then cut up into individual sets of blinds. Originally these route destination blinds would have been a large roll that was housed in a compartment at the front of the bus above the drive with a glass panel on the outside. The driver would scroll the roll with a handle or winder and select the destination for the route they would be driving to
