This is a mid-century studio ceramic bottle vase with an oil-fired tenmoku glaze. A small, hand-thrown studio pottery bud vase. It features a dark brown and black, possibly tenmoku or 'lava' style, reactive glaze.
The shape is ovoid with a short, narrow neck.
Handcrafted stoneware / earthenware.
The exact artist or brand is unknown .It has a makers mark that i cannot identify ( any infpo welcome )
Similar pieces have been produced by notable potters such as Eric Ploen and Shoji Hamada.
The glaze technique uses an iron-based formula that can produce an iridescent, microcrystalline sheen when fired in specific oil or gas kilns.
