A vintage brass tea strainer with a black handle, with the text "Where There Is Tea There Is Hope" on the outer edge
The quote is taken from the play Pinero by Arther Wing. In the First World War, tea was a staple of a soldiers diet. They relied on tea so much to keep up their morale whilst in the trenches that it was not rationed.
The item appears to be silver-plated brass but the silver has mostly rubbed off which gives it a charming patina , with a darkwood, handle.
The overall length is approximately 16cm, and the diameter is around 6.8cm.
