This is an original vintage travel poster by Curt Blixt. Created in 1953 to celebrate Stockholm's 700th anniversary.
The poster features an illustration of a woman wearing a crown and a yellow dress that becomes moon light on the river Norrström, the main river in central Stockholm, which connects Lake Mälaren to the Baltic Sea, with a cityscape of Stockholm below her.
Curt Blixt won a nationwide competition for his design, which is also known as "Mälardrottning" (Queen of Mälaren).
The actual 700-year anniversary was in 1952, but the celebration was postponed by a year to avoid competing with the Helsinki Olympics.
It is considered a rare and historically significant piece of artwork. This poster has been cut short at the bottom so part of the river scene is missing ( priced acordingly) . it has been attached to a thin board/Card backing so cannot be rolled . It has damage ( see pictures) but it is still a lovely true vintage original 50s poster not a reprint and has the charm and patena of a 70 year old poster. It has been photographed and stored in a simple ikea frame which i am happy to send it with if the buyer wants it . Postage is an estimate please contact me for accurate postage cost ( cheaper without frame ) It measures 80 cm tall x 61 cm wide ( poster) frame measures 103 cm tall x 72.5 wide
