A classic example of Blue Willow transferware, sproduced by W. Adams & Sons of Staffordshire, England. The "Willow Pattern" is a famous chinoiserie design developed in late 18th-century England that traditionally depicts a story involving a pagoda, two birds, a bridge with three figures, and a weeping willow tree.
Age: Items with this mark were typically produced between the late 19th and early 20th century, specifically dating to around 1880–1910.
Features: The back stamp reads "WARRANTED STAFFORDSHIRE W. ADAMS & SONS ENGLAND" and is often accompanied by crazing in the glaze. The backstamp includes the word "England," which indicates it was produced after 1891 to comply with US trade laws. Most surviving examples featuring this specific banner-style backstamp date from the 1891 to early 1900s period.
