This bronze dinner bell is the work of Richard Rohac, often mistaken for Walter Boss. It measures 10 cm tall, 5.5cm diameter at base.
Richard Rohac worked at Werkstätte Hagenauer for a period of time, refining his technique. In the 1950s/60s he branched out and started his own company . His works are rendered in a more realistic style and are extremely finely cast and finished. He worked in brass in the Modern Viennese Bronze style with acid-etched black patina and polished gold highlights. They are often marked with two R’s (RR) with their backs facing each other- The bells were not marked, probably due to the design of the bell, having no flat surface to stamp it on.
This little bell has a lovely bright ring and is in good working order.
