Dating from the 1940s, this rare Chinese embroidered jacket features exotic birds and floral Peking knot silk embroidered stitches ( Peking Knot is a traditional Chinese embroidery stitch not often used in modern embroidery. This simple stitch creates a loop secured by a knot. The loops are commonly stitched close together and used to fill in spaces)
It is made of a pure white silk fabric with long full sleeves, mandarin collar, front pockets, fully lined in a gossamer thin silk thats almost translucent , with silk button toggle closures.
This is such a special piece and would make a wonderful alternative wedding dress paired with white palazzo pants or a silk slip.
Alternatively- A beautiful textile to hang like a kimono and marvel at the artistry of the stitches and the skill of the making
There are a few minor marks on the silk ( see picture of collar) they are not noticeable but have been state to provide a full description . This jacket is an antique item. Im guessing it is a size Uk 8/uk 10 the measurements taken with the jacket laid flat are
16 cm across the neck, 47 cm across the bust , 68 cm from top of collar to hem, 58 cm arm from top of shoulder to cuff and 14 cm along the shoulder from base of collar to top of sleeve.
