original oil painting by Edward Elliot
An oil painting with a strangely magical atmosphere. On the back of the painting is a note saying " Long lane in Winter( East Anglia- Caistor) 1910 " . It depicts a lone figure walking on an empty road through a thick wood, with areas of thicker impasto and colours layered to create a rather impressionistic painting. Presented in a simple painted wooden frame. Signed Edward Elliot in the Left hand corner. Oil on board. Its been hard to find information on this British Artist. The painting has no date but the note on the back says 1910 making this an incredibly modern turn of the century painting. He was certainly British as most of his paintings depict British landscapes. This painting has a peace and solitude about it and would work well in a mid century/ modernist setting. Viewings are welcome by appointment at our North London showroom ( N10)
