Vintage 1960's Viners "Shape" stainless steel cutlery set designed by Gerald Benney. This Vintage 1960's Viners "Shape" stainless steel set comprises 6 x tea spoon 6 x dessert spoon 6x starter forks 6 x starter knives 6 x large fork 6 x large knife 2 x serving spoons. Part of the set is in the original box with the addition of the larger knife and forks on the side. An Iconic designed by Gerald Benney who was a fine Goldsmith .Born in Hull in 1930 Benney went on to study at Brighton College of Art between 1946-8 where his father was Principal. After studying at the Royal College of Art between 1950-53. Benney became Professor of Silversmithing and Jewellery there from 1974 to 1983. He was a Consultant Designer to Viners of Sheffield throughout the 1960's, designing pieces for silver, pewter and stainless steel production.
This is a great design with very practical purpose. It is a modernist shape with an embossed pattern on the handle of each piece. in good vintage condition
